    Call For Help

    Greetings All,

Another late message for those that can make it out.

When this season is over and we have time to reflect, we shall come up with a plan on dealing with the organic waste from our gardens and how to prepare it for composting. Our biggest obstacle this year has been the weather and there is not much we can do about that.

Before the snow flies, we want to accomplish two things- first, move all the piles of waste to one spot in the garden and second, clean up the gardens.

Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon we will be assembling our volunteer crew (that would be you) and will start moving the piles to a location where we can attack the waste with a shredder. We are still waiting our turn at the leased shredder. We can not get a fixed date when it will be available. In the event that freeze-up comes before we get to the shredding, we want to have it moved to a single pile.

The job Tuesday and Wednesday will require loading and unloading the trailer and the wheelbarrow, picking up and relocating the piles, followed with a raking and cleanup. If you can handle a fork, a rake, push a wheel barrow, then we need you.

There are a couple of garden spots that we need to clean up and some general cleaning around the sheds. There is lots of work which we will be tackling right through till its done, or the snow flies. We will be continuing on Thursday and Friday afternoons. More announcements as we confirm work dates.

We will be starting at 1 p.m.. each day. See you in the gardens.

    John Fagan

PS This call for help is going only to those who have indicated within the past month some willingness to help. If you know other gardeners that could give us an afternoon of their time, give them a call.

      Hello John,

Thanks for the information on what has to be done. Outlining the tasks set forth enables one to bring that favorite rake, fork, shovel, wheelbarrow, etc. Also knowing what the tasks are makes it less formidable.

      See you there.
