Walmart - Evergreen Green Grant
Grow Regina is the proud recipient of the Walmart - Evergreen Green Grant for $10,000 to enable us to complete two projects in the next year: Evergreen Greening Project and Accessible Gardening Project.
Green Grants, a Canadian community greening program sponsored by Wal-Mart Canada and led by Evergreen, provided funds of $10,000 to urban naturalization projects focused on the planting and stewardship of urban habitats through the use of native plants. In cooperation with City of Regina, Grow Regina will be developing Parliament Park adjacent to YARA-Grow Regina Community Garden with native planting over the coming fall and spring season.
This grant also supports community gardening projects that involves native plants and food gardening which will enable Grow Regina to develop the Evergreen Accessible Garden area on the southeast corner of the garden. Grow Regina is currently working with Saskatchewan Abilities Council (SAC), Saskatchewan Association for the Rehabilitation of Brain Injuries (SARBI) and the South Saskatchewan Independent Living Centre (SSILC) to design a gardening area to accommodate individuals with varying degrees of disabilities.
