Celebrated Artist at YARA-GRCG
Grow Regina has the unique pleasure of working with renowned local artist Victor Cicansky who has offered to donate two sculptures to frame the Queen Street entrance to the YARA-Grow Regina Community Garden in McLeod Park.
These fabulous accent sculptures could not have been possible without support of YARA Belle Plaine for their generous offer of additional funding up to $5,000 to help Grow Regina realize art in the garden.
We are currently in discussions with the City of Regina to identify and seek approval for all issues relating to the placement of the sculpture and signage. Upon completion, the sculptures will be presented to the City for continued care and protection for generations to come.
In the coming weeks and months, you will also learn more about Vic’s involvement with Grow Regina. As mentioned before, Vic will be presenting a Clay Sculpture Workshop this fall to the winning participants a competition between Ruth M. Buck School and Jack MacKenzie School Grade 1 students who pledged to grow vegetables for donation to the Plant a Row●Grow a Row (PAR●GAR) program.
Victor is contributing in a major way to help Grow Regina fulfill its mandate to enhance the social, economic and cultural well-being of residents through community gardening.
He will also be designing the gazebo for the center circle of the YARA-Grow Regina Community Garden over the winter. Finally, Vic has offered his services to collaborate with a local landscape designer to produce a Master Site Plan to support our efforts to create a ‘world class’ community garden.
Vic has been featured in The Leader Post Garden started it all and again in the Star Phoenix Regina artist, named to Order of Canada.
More information about the life and works of Vic Cicansky is available at www.cicansky.ca.
